PROJECT LEADER (RESEARCH)
1. Project leader's tasks
We are looking for a project leader (PL) who will be in charge of
coordinating, planning and developing the activities of Aalto University's Media Factory (MF) with specific focus on MF research.
MF project leader will be responsible for coordinating the integration of
Media Factory education, laboratories and research. PL will be responsible for the
facilitation of the MF research tracks initiated in January 2009 as well as for the development of new MF research projects. For this purpose PL will gather information about media-related research done in HSE, TKK and Taik. PL will lead the planning of a doctoral school and coordinate the cooperation with the research support services of Taik, TKK and HSE.
MF project leader will coordinate the meetings of MF board and work as secretary for the meetings. PL will be responsible for internal and external communication of MF with specific focus on the production of contents for MF media. PL will also be responsible
for coordinating the linking of MF media to Aalto University's communication sturctures.
MF project leader will leads the planning of MF cooperation with partners beyond the university context.
MF project leader will be responsible for the overall budget of MF.
The appointment is a fixed term appointment for the period of
1.3.2009–31.12.2009.
2. Faculty / Recruiting unit
MF project leader will work at Aalto University's Media Factory at the
School of Visual Culture the University of Art and Design Helsinki.
Aalto University is a university created through a merger between the
University of Art and Design Helsinki, the Helsinki School of Economics and the Helsinki
University of Technology. Aalto University starts in January 2010 opening up a world
of possibilities for multidisciplinary education and research.
3. Qualifications required for research coordinator
The tasks of project leader require doctoral degree or comparable
qualification as well as familiarization with the field of tasks.
In evaluating scientific competence, we will take into account the
applicants’ achievements
in research, achievements in developing the field, publications as well as
other
proven theoretical and practical experience of the field.
The recruited candidate is expected to possess certain professional merits,
such as
training in media studies, work experience, the ability to work
independently and
manage research projects. Primarily, the post requires a thorough knowledge
of the
field of media research, in Finland and internationally. Project leader is
expected to
have ability to manage complex processes and to be committed to producing
good results.
The tasks demand considerable knowledge of Finnish university context and
capability
to collaborate and communicate in English.
4. Salary
The task specific salary of project leader is based on level 7 of the
demands level
chart for teaching and research personnel in the salary system of Finnish
universities.
According to this system, also a work performance specific salary (max 46 %
of the task specific salary) is paid. In the beginning this part of the
salary will be 16
%. The work performance will be evaluated within the first six months of
employment.
In the beginning the total salary will be 3984,10 €.
