Hi Chiara,

I hope you remember me from the UKERC summer school of 07, and not think
that some stranger is trying to spam you. I hope your PhD is going well
and you've been finding the research worthwhile. I've come across a
organisation that has really benefited me in terms of networking and
opening my eyes to the entire energy industry and it may be of interest
to you. Here's a bit about it:

Last year I become involved in INORE <www.inore.org>, a network of PhD
students and early stage researchers focused on offshore energy. The
focus of the network is to provide a "peer to peer" interdisciplinary
forum for researchers dealing with all aspects of offshore energy. As
your Phd was/is focused on energy policy it is something that may be of
interest to you and your colleagues. All information about is on the
website too www.inore.org.

The main actions of INORE are an annual workshop that co-incides with a
major renewable energy conference, this year it was in October before
the ICOE in Brest, France and 3 day symposium, to be held this May
25-28th in Ghent, Belguim. This is its 3rd year running and until now
the number of participants has been growing steadily from 35 up to
nearly 60 people at last years symposium and their range of disciplines
are starting to expand from engineers to ecologists and social
scientists. What would greatly benefit the network would be to expand
the range to include more people with an focus on policy and how this
effects technology developement.

We are organising the symposium now and are looking for possible
keynote speakers for the 1st and 2nd day. I was wondering if you know of
anyone who specialises in marine energy so that I could contact them to
speak. It is a standard 20min presentation with 10 mins discussion and
they would be invited to take part in a panel debate with the other
speakers. I was not sure if your focus was specifically on marine
renewables so if you feel like its something you could talk about that
would also be fantastic. As I've mentioned the idea is for the symposium
to be a relaxed peer to peer environment in order to facilitate much
debate and discussion and hopefully the outcomes are decent
collaborations on energy issues.

Sorry to have rambled on for so long, if you need to know more please
get in touch,if your not interested that's fine!

All the best,
Sarah
