New NRC Research Associate Position in Femtosecond CARS Microscopy
The Steacie Institute for Molecular Sciences of the National Research
Council (Ottawa, Canada) requires a Research Associate (RA) in femtosecond
nonlinear optical microscopy. New opportunities are emerging for the
application of optical pulse shaping, modulation, heterodyne and
phase-locking techniques to enhanced nonlinear microscopy of live cells and
tissues. We seek a dynamic individual, ideally with a background in optical
waveform engineering and interferometric locking techniques, who will help
develop novel coherent schemes for enhanced CARS Microscopy. Our goal is to
test and apply these schemes to the real world of live cell and live tissue
samples.
The Femtosecond Science group at NRC has very active, internationally
recognized research programs with state-of-the-art laboratories, strong
theoretical support and extensive international collaborations. The NRC
Research Associate (RA) Program is a competitive program for young leading
scientists within five years or less of the PhD. To date, within our
Femtosecond Science group, 100% of previous RAs (over the past 15 years)
have gone on to academic or industrial positions. The current starting
salary for a recent PhD graduate is $57,500.
