Hi,
I notice that this news release was called "back to the future" I am tempted to rename this "round and round in circles."
I would also be interested to know how this transition will be managed especially as it contradicts information I was given in late December where I was told that this content would also remain on IW certainly until 2010.
Whilst I understand that this is a useful move for marketing to pharmaceutical companies etc. it means that those of us who may have more than this IHC collection will have more than one place to manage these subscriptions and of course more than one place to gather usage statistics from and all the additional work in combining and analysing the data for any VFM assessment.
Why can't this content be dual-hosted i.e. both on IW as well as the new Atypon site and IHC give their customers the choice as to which route to access their subscriptions through?
I was also wondering whether this particular decision meant that IHC would be moving it's other two collections, Life Sciences and Clinical Medicine, onto new platforms in the future.
One of the downsides of Atypon systems (unless someone can tell me otherwise) is that one has to collect the usage statistics for each Atypon-hosted publisher site by site, which is tedious and time-consuming. This contrasts with the situation that exists for e.g. Highwire and MetaPress hosted sites where one can use the main site to access all their hosted-publishers' usage statistics (with the exception of OUP on Highwire).
Cheers
Lesley

It might be interesting to know how the transition between the old site
and the new one will be managed; especially since it is mid-year. Your
question about statistics is a very relevant one and it would be nice to
know some URL redirects will be in place at least for the first few
months. I hope Informa's journals thrive and develop on their new
platform.
I also welcome the addition of archive issues of these journals though;
a good step forward. The original post from Kirstin is below with some
cuts to highlight the main points of interest to us, in case subscribers
have missed the key announcement.
Best wishes
Louise

I must admit that I did not look on this with great joy. One more place
to link to, another place to pull stats from, ....
It basically looks and acts like the old site, just more work for those
of us maintaining the links.
