The programme is now available for ?Delivering Your Potential?, a
one-day event organised by the Career Development Group (Scottish
Division), with assistance from CILIP in Scotland, to be held in
Glasgow on Thursday 5th March at Glasgow Metropolitan College
(http://www.glasgowmet.ac.uk/).
The aim of ?Delivering Your Potential? is to provide information
professionals, from all sectors and from their first professional post
onwards, with skills to help them contribute effectively to their
organisation.
The programme of presentations will cover a range of subjects,
including 12 tips for professional self development, delivering
effective presentations and personal marketing. Speakers include
Joanna Ptolomey (Independent Librarian and Consultant), Kathy Ennis
(Senior Adviser, Department of Knowledge and Information, CILIP) and
Liz McGettigan (Libraries and Information Manager, City of Edinburgh
Council).
The objectives of the event are:
? To introduce delegates to self development techniques
? To encourage greater understanding of the concepts of confidence and
self esteem and their importance to effective working
? To promote a better understanding of presentation skills
? To raise awareness of employer expectations
The Career Development Group has been awarded the CILIP Seal of
Recognition (http://www.cilip.org.uk/qualificationschartership/seal).
The course content is designed to complement the CILIP Body of
Professional Knowledge and links to CILIP Framework of Qualifications
and National Occupational Standards. All delegates will receive a
certificate of attendance.
Delegate costs: CILIP members £65 + VAT; Non-members £91 + VAT;
Institutional members £80 + VAT. Lunch and refreshments are included.
