Our compute farm is mostly 3GHz Dual (4 core) Xeon X5365 based blades -
re-badged SuperMicro kit. Not really a relevant comparison.
The machine you're describing should completely wipe the floor with our
benchmarks if you can get Linux to run on it effectively! We only buy
kit which has vendor support for Linux now due to previous issues -
there's nothing quite so unsatisfying as having to hobble your
motherboard to get Linux to run!
We have had no issues with Crucial RAM.
