series of lectures on "The Geo-Politics of Disability."

"The Echo Maker and the Boundaries of the Human"
Michael Bérubé
Paterno Family Professor in Literature, Penn State University
and Co-director, Disability Studies Program, Program in
Science, Technology, and Society
Professor Bérubé will discuss Richard Powers' National Book
Award-winning novel, The Echo Maker, and some of its
ramifications for the narrative depiction of cognitive
disability. In addition, he will address Alasdair MacIntyre's
Dependent Rational Animals, Powers' depiction of Capgras
syndrome, and the representation of disability in popular
films that don't appear to be about disability.
TIME: All lectures noon to 1:30 P.M.
