Census data is covered by the Census Act 1920 and the Census
(Confidentiality) Act 1991. The acts effectively place very tight levels of
confidentiality around the personal information they contain and census
information is only published 100 years after the census took place.
Inspection of the information would likely not be granted as your
information is likely to be on a page with other names, however I believe
that you may be able to obtain an extract which will show your information
only.
The custodians of census information is the Office of National Statistics
and they have web pages which gives a lot of information about censuses
(censi?) and I am sure will have contact details that will be of use to you.
You will not be able to see information relating to anyone else and there
are a number of exemptions under FOI that apply since the Access to Records
Act was repealed.
You probably know this already but the 1911 census went online earlier this
year and earlier years are also available - although I am by no means
suggesting that you appear in the 1911 census!!!
1921 census is due for release in 2021, but the 1931 census was totally
destroyed by fire in (I think) the 1940's. There was no 1941 census due to
war.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Simon Howarth.

Subject: [data-protection] census data question
I'm probably being really stupid asking this question, but is any individual
entitled to inspect the data held about them in previous UK census returns
using an SAR?
