Hi
Last week I asked for any bloggers out there. David bradley (will check
name) replied he asked me if i am on twitter, i was not. So i signed up. I
found it to be one of the best ways to get people to know about the project
i am doing. look at what a week does www.twitter.com/pulseproject.
If you follow me pulseproject and sciencebase (that is david) who has been
a great help. I am a little addicted at the moment but I really found it
useful.
I am happy to pass on some tips if anybody has problems but it is a great
tool.
Colin

Subject: [PSCI-COM] Tweeting science
Dear Psci-commers,
Has anyone on this list tried using Twitter as a form of public outreach?
If so, it would be great to get in touch with you and exchange tips/
experiences.
My colleague Jon Copley is a marine biologist and is currently on a
research ship in the Southern Ocean, just off Antaractica, exploring the
deep seabed to find hydrothermal vents and cold seeps--deep, chemical oases
that are home to a variety of bizarre creatures.
Jon is posting regular “tweets” on Twitter every few minutes (when
possible) about the expedition’s progress-- the idea being to give people
an insight into the process of how science is done, give them the
opportunity to interact with scientists in more of a ’real-time’
setting, and hopefully share the thrill of discovery when they find
something new.
He hasn’t got many followers yet, so if you (or anyone you know) are
interested, please do follow his posts at:
http://twitter.com/expeditionlog You don’t have to sign up to Twitter
to view his posts, but if you want to reply to any of them/ ask questions,
you will need to do so.
Any questions/ comments, please get in touch with either Jon or me. And
please pass the URL on to anyone who may be interested.
Many thanks!
Claire
