The 2009 COST Action IC0602 (Algorithmic Decision Theory)
Doctoral School will be held at University College Cork from
April 18th-22nd 2009. The theme of the doctoral school will
be “Advanced Topics in Decision Theoretic Artificial
Intelligence”. Specifically, the school will comprise major
courses on topics such as an introduction to constraint programming
using ECLiPSe, reasoning under uncertainty, explanation generation
for decision-making, and a variety of other short tutorials.
In addition to the course content, PhD students will be invited
to give short presentations of their work in an informal workshop
environment throughout the week.
All PhD students based in Europe (or any other region that is
an affiliate of COST) are invited to apply to attend the school.
A limited number of funded places are available, but others will
become available as sponsorship for the school is obtained.
Funding includes accommodation, breakfast and lunch for the
duration of the doctoral school.
Students who wish to attend the school are required to submit
the following to Barry O’Sullivan ([log in to unmask]) by
the 6th of February 2009:
1. A 2 page (600 word) summary of the students current PhD
topic, and a justification for why the student wishes to
attend the Doctoral School;
2. A letter of support/recommendation for the student from
his/her thesis advisor.
Both documents should be sent by email, and in PDF format.
A summary of the major tutorials to be delivered as part of
the doctoral school are available on the web-site at:
