Dear All,
In the Journal for April 1949, Reggie Harbord lists some of Kipling's dogs:
"Kipling mentions his own dogs—(a) Vixen (or
Vicy) Terrier bitch, (b) Malachi (or
Mike), (c) Mr. Wardle a Terrier,
and we know Kipling had a much-
loved Scottie."
and in our own NRG, Alan Underwood confirms that Vixen was a fox
terrier bitch, who found her way into "Her Majesty's Servants", as
well as "Garm, a Hostage"
So - Vicy, for Vixen, not Vicky for Victoria. Not that we ever thought....
Best regards,
John
