As long as you know how your mail
I have never come across such.
As long as you know how your mail server handles the local part (see the
wikipedia article for a discussion of this), and work out a system for
avoiding duplicates its up to you.
If I was starting from scratch though I would 'borrow' from those nice
people down under :

Subject: email address standards
Hi - Happy New Year everyone.
We have a major reorganisation and merger due in a couple of months and
on several fronts need to establish one standard where there has been a
variety previously.
I have been asked if there is a BS [or similar] standard for email
addresses?
Specifically is the format [log in to unmask] [as opposed to
[log in to unmask]] compliant to a specific standard - and if so,
what is it?
Have checked the RFC's which offer a variety of alternatives.
Thanks
Regards
Robert
