Further to the hereinbelow comments of Bernard and Pete Joseph, I certainly
agree that Cornwall should have been stated in the caption rather than Penzance
for obvious reasons. And, as stated in another response, whereas results of
kaolin extraction in Georgia could resemble strip mining, a long-ago visit I
had to ECC territory in Cornwall showed good environmental practice.
Again, I think the description was a careless mistake and not intended to
suggest strip mining of Penzance!
And to Bernard I would add that being pedantic can often avoid errors --
sometimes grievous!

Dear Noel,
I think NASA's misinterpretation is accidental in that it does show Penzance,
but they would have been wiser to have said Cornwall! As to strip mining, I
think this shows a slight lack of geographical knowledge of the area on NASA's
behalf, since, as we all know in GB, whilst china clay 'mining' is in 'a way'
strip mining it isn't -if you get my gnrl. drift. Hope you don't think I am
being pedantic... not intended!
Regards, Bernard
