Dear Colleagues,
I have been asked to research how other authorities administer internet
access for staff. Currently we have limited staff who have internet access
but more and more staff have asked for access to be able to deal with
enquiries effectively.
However, our "partners" BT, charge to create each internet account and also
charge a monthly fee. If we were to provide all our staff with access it would
cost us thousands. We are considering creating generic accounts for each
library allowing all staff access. Unfortunately I don't think BT would be too
happy with this as they would not be able to monitor usage.
I would be really be interested to find out how other authorities have solved
this issue or if they are facing the same problems.
Kindest regards
