Thanks for this. No doubt different people will have their own 'take' on this but my feeling is that, if the profession and therefore CILIP is to have any future then we and CILIP must invest in the development of high level innovative skills and getting rid of someone who is doing just that does not seem like a good idea. IPR skills are now a key component of the work of the information professional and for a profession which represents information professionals to dispense with the services of its IPR expert sends out the wrong signals.
