Speaker: Susie Andretta, London Metropolitan University
Continuing Professional Education (CPD) plays an increasingly important role
in all our lives. FILE (Facilitating Information Literacy Education) is a
CPD course sponsored by London Health Libraries and the National Library for
Health (NLH). It aims to train NHS librarians in information literacy as
part of their Learner Support Programme. Susie will show how, through a
strategy of reflection in practice, FILE has helped participants acknowledge
their role as information literacy facilitators, raising their professional
confidence and status as medical librarians and enhancing the learning
experience of the users they support.
Susie Andretta has been developing information literacy education for over a
decade, working within a range of disciplines and at all levels of HE. In
2006 she developed the FILE course.
This talk will be of particular value to anyone registered for CILIP
Chartership and can contribute towards CPD requirements.
