Afternoon Neil
I support Michael's guidance. Assessors take greater account of
presentation that is logical, legible and legal (eg judging the naming
of individuals in your evidence) than the binding.
Your submission may travel several times by post when it is in
assessment. Assessors and the office take considerable care to prevent
damage but occasionally damage has already been done before a submission
reaches the office. Ring binders need to stand up to this treatment
without the rings bending or breaking. Two top tips if you're using a
ring binder are not to over-fill it and, if a paper grip is provided,
please use it. Over-filled plastic wallets may lead to their contents
falling out. Another tip is to take care if you label/index the plastic
wallet and not its contents as the assessors may remove the contents.
I've seen some wonderfully-presented submissions in ring binders. It's
the planning and care that goes into the whole presentation that counts.

Hello Neil,
It's not a silly question and one where we at the office do have a
preference: Comb Binding. It's compact (so saves on postage) and it's
still possible to re-organize and, if necessary, insert material. I hope
the Board Members agree with me on this.
Ring binders can get damaged after a few postings and are quite bulky.
The clear plastic wallets can also mean pages slip about and may not be
so easy to read as they are reflective (in the wrong way. We want you to
be reflective not the pages).
Don't panic if you've already submitted using ring binders and plastic
wallets, they're still acceptable under the Chartership regulations.
Good luck
Michael

Subject: Preferred binding for portfolios
Hi - are there any assessors out there? If so, what is your preferred
binding for submitted portfolios. I've heard some candidates say that
it's
ok to submit in a ring binder or slide binder but others have said that
you
prefer spiral bound. I'm sure I've seen this written somewhere but can't
seem to put my finger on it - sorry if it's a silly question.
