Not clear if this is agricultural land or not but the NFU have agreed
rates for damage to land depending on what is being grown/ how far
into the season you are.
I would recommend light weight equipment be used but most
importantly you should take a detailed photographic record of the state
of the site before and immediately after the GI has been done and
then again once your remedial works have been done.
Obviously agreeing things like this in advance makes for an easier life,
even down to picky details like the grass seed mix because if yours is
different it will look funny against the background.
