Dear colleagues,
I suppose ours is not the only library that from time to time is offered a
donation of a large number of slides when a professor or researcher dies?
What do you do with this kind of donations?
I do not mean what did you do in pre-digital time, but nowadays: Do you add
them to your collections; scan them and register them in a database of
architectural photos; archive them as they are - for future researchers;
say Thanks, but No thanks?
According to the widow, some of the photos are taken from books and
magazines - these will of course not be registered at all. Most of the
photos, however, are taken by the professor himself.
If we scan them and register them with metadata in a database: Will they be
used at all? Is it worth the use of library resources (of several kinds)?
Please answer me ASAP if you have any experience with this and/or points of
view!
All the best from Norway,
Kjersti
