This course gives practical experience in the use of Excel for data summary,
presentation and statistical work. It concentrates on the areas where Excel
really excels, such as data entry and management, tabulation using pivot
tables and array functions. We also review Excel's facilities for statistical
analysis, giving advice on their use and limitations, and discuss how add-ins
can be used to enhance Excel's capabilities.

The ease with which Excel can be extended is a welcome and useful surprise
for those who wish or need to use Excel for statistical work.
This one-day course introduces participants to ways of extending Excel using
macros and other features of Visual Basic for Applications (VBA). Examples
include programs to reorganise data and to perform statistical
calculations. Practical sessions enable participants to develop and run macros.
