Dear Colleagues,
Firstly, apologies for any cross-postings.
The Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine in Oxford are running a 3-Day
Workshop on How to Practice Evidence-Based Health Care 30th March -
1st April 2009 at St. Hugh's College, Oxford.
The workshop is intended to serve as an introduction to evidence-based
practice. It is aimed at clinicians and other health care
professionals (including those involved in the field of mental health)
who wish to gain knowledge of critical appraisal and experience in the
practice of evidence-based health care.
After the workshop, participants should be able to:
1. formulate answerable questions
2. search effectively for evidence
3. critically appraise evidence about treatment, prognosis, diagnosis
and aetiology for its validity and applicability
4. understand basic measures of efficacy such as numbers needed to
treat and likelihood ratios
5. understand the basics of decision analysis, guidelines and cost-
effectiveness analysis.
