In my last message, my memory played tricks... in my description of Marampa
I gave the wrong production figures for 1967. We processed 4 million tons a year
in the plant to produce 2.6 million tons of concentrate.
Sadly, the mine closed in 1975 when the Sierra Leone Development Company
ceased to trade. Since then, all has gone for scrap, the only remains there now
being derelict houses and the concrete floors where the concentrator plants stood.
