Some time ago, we were advised by our HR department to CRB check all our
frontline library staff. Due to the costs involved we had to do this in stages.
Now part way through the process, we are now receiving conflicting advice
from HR who seem to have changed their mind. We now wish to complete
what has been started, especially as the new ISA registration is unlikely to
include most library staff. However, HR are now trying to put a stop on it,
saying that library front line staff are not 'regularly caring and responsible' for
children or vulnerable groups so do not require to be CRB checked.
It would be helpful to know what the policy is in other library authorities.
Many thanks
