Dear All,
We would like to invite you to register to attend a Repositories Winter School to be held between 25th and 27th February 2009. The winter school will be based on the highly successful summer schools run by the Repositories Support Project (RSP) (http://www.rsp.ac.uk/events/index.php?page=ThorntonManor-2008-06-18/index.php), but with a Scottish flavour.
The programme is aimed at both experienced repository managers and those who are fairly new to repositories, and will include practical workshops, lectures and the opportunity to engage in discussions with fellow practitioners. The event is being funded by the University of Glasgow with the support of JISC and the RSP.
The venue for the event will be the New Lanark Hotel and Conference Centre (http://www.newlanarkhotel.co.uk/). The event will run from lunch time on Wednesday until lunch time on Friday. As the event is being heavily subsidised the cost to delegates will only be £120. This will include all meals and accommodation, as well as access to the excellent facilities, which include a swimming pool and health and fitness suite.
New Lanark is accessible by public transport, or by taxi from Glasgow Airport. Full details and driving directions are available at http://www.newlanarkconferences.co.uk/location/.
Highlights of the programme will include:
The Scottish Repository Scene
Advocacy & policies
Workflows and metadata
Copyright & IPR
Beyond the Repository - Current Research Systems and the REF
Mandates
Presenters will include Niamh Brennan (Trinity College, Dublin), Michael White (University of Stirling), Morag Greig and William Nixon (University of Glasgow), and Bill Hubbard and Dominic Tate (RSP, University of Nottingham).
A registration form is available at http://www.rsp.ac.uk/events/booking.php?event=WinterSchool2009. Registration is on a first-come first-served basis so please register sooner rather than later to secure a place at this event.
Best wishes,
Morag Greig, William Nixon & Dominic Tate
