This used to be the practice on most hospital wards, in my past mental health experience info might have included, mental health act status, on leave, sleeping out, whether epileptic, diabetic, special obs.... Such displays even when 'colour coded' are rightly frowned upon. If still used (an overview of client details is very helpful) they are placed in cabinets that open when needed and situated out of clear sight from the office door.
It must be said that a driver for this may be fueled by reliance on agency staff and lack of staff (numbers) who can 'meet and greet' which is a lost opportunity for engaging community, relatives and providing holistic care....
Check the health care commission there may be guidance on this...?

I can understand the need for the information to be readily available,
but I wouldn't be happy about it being visible to every person who walks
through the door of the home.
At the very least, I would have thought that DoB and doctor were
excessive for public display (think 1st and 2nd DP principles).

Subject: Personal Information - Residential Care Homes
Hi everyone
I've got an interesting query and was wondering if I could benefit from
the experience on the list.
At one of our residential homes, there is a board in reception which has
personal details of the people in the home. For example, it indicates
which room a client is in, their name, DOB and their doctor. This is
done in order to enable relatives and other relevant persons to find
their relative easily.
I am concerned about this information being on public display. I have
suggested that staff have a day book with the information contained
within it and that this is locked away.
Have other members of the list had similar issues with access to
information / confidentiality at care home?
Regards
Sarah
