“Beyond Text: Embodied Analysis and the Digital Archive”
Dr Sarah Whatley is the Head of Performing Arts at CU's Centre for
Media and Performance and a well known practitioner and scholar,
whose recent work includes studies of the choreography of Siobhan Davies
and of issues of choreographic style and identity and music/dance relationships
including performance that explores the movement implications for the dancer
immersed in visceral and gendered sonic environments. Related to this is her
growing interest in dance ethnography and the role of the participant
observer/social researcher in witnessing the creative process.
