The Centre for Public Health is a vibrant research and teaching community working in partnership to deliver health at local, regional, national and international level. We specialise in applied research and educational programmes addressing health issues at all levels from policy development to service delivery. The Centre is firmly committed to a multi-disciplinary approach to Public Health and works not only with health services but also with local authorities, judicial bodies, environmental services and community groups. To help us achieve this we are looking to appoint a Researcher in Media Transmission of Alcohol Cultures.
You will work in the Centre for Public Health on this Joseph Rowntree Foundation funded research project which starts March 2009 and investigates the links between media, celebrity, and alcohol drinking in young people. You will contribute to a number of primary and secondary research studies. The post would be suited to experienced researchers with a recent history of research and publication in the field, or early career researchers who have recently completed a Masters or PhD. Contract will be for an initial period of 18 months, with possible renewal depending upon securing funding.
