Dear All,
I am posting this to the whole list as there was a fair degree of interest - apologies for the delay (and of course for cross-posting).
I only received responses from two libraries who have actually purchased DVDs from the Medivision series and both of these said that they had proved popular, were relatively affordable compared to other DVDs and helped to bridge the gap between the old collections of videos. Neither library subscribed to the online collections.
The DVDs were especially popular with examination candidates (e.g. PACES / OSCES) as part of their revision, however, a significant number of DVDs concentrated on tropical or quite rare conditions / diseases (and there now seems to be an emphasis on Dentistry) and these, if purchased, were rarely used. One respondent commented that a (fairly prominent) physician thought the clinical examination DVDs were good (but not excellent) and especially useful for medical students.
Thanks to Paula & Don for their feedback.
Kind Regards
Doug Knock

>Dear Library Colleagues,
>
>I, as I suspect many of you also did (harvesting of contact details on HLISD?) recently received an email from Medi-Vision promoting their clinical teaching series of DVDs (see http://www.medivisionfilms.com/dvd_series.php for further details).
>
>Following on from this e-mail, I asked within London-links to see if
>1)any London colleagues have purchased these before and if so did you network then within your Trust
>2)they are well used / popular
>3)there had been any feedback about them
>
>Although people were interested in the series, I didn't receive any responses from librarians who had purchased / used these before.
>
>So I am now sending the enquiry out further and wider.... I am keen to hear any opinions / feedback relating to this series. If anyone would like an overview of the feedback I receive, please get in touch (if you've already been in touch, you don't need to contact me again).
