The Center for Tropical Marine Ecology (ZMT) in Bremen has been recently
elected member of the prestigious Leibniz Association, which is
supported by the German Federal and State Governments. Through its
research, ZMT contributes to developing science-based strategies for
sustainable use of tropical coastal systems. As a part of its efforts to
strengthen and expand its research capabilities, ZMT is searching to
fill a professorship in cooperation with Jacobs University Bremen in
Social Sciences:
Social Systems and Ecological Economics
We seek candidates with a record of excellence in research on the
dynamics and resilience of complex social systems including their
driving forces, associated risks, costs and benefits. The successful
candidate will work with an interdisciplinary group of researchers to
explore the social and economic dimensions of global change. Experience
in research on tropical coastal systems will be an asset.
Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. in a relevant field and a proven
record of research and teaching. The successful candidate will develop
the research area at the ZMT in accordance with its focus on tropical
coastal systems. The position involves teaching at Jacobs University
Bremen; the language of instruction is English.
ZMT is embedded in Bremen's vibrant marine research environment
including the University of Bremen, Jacobs University, MARUM Center for
Marine Environmental Research, Alfred-Wegener-Institute for Polar and
Marine Research and the Max-Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology.
Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualification and experience.
Adequate support in the form of personnel and infrastructure will be
available.
