Hi,
I've found this website and this organisation through the BBC article in
question. Having then gone on to read the 'Birmingham Manifesto', I'm not very
surprised that the BBC may have felt the need to edit a lot out! (at least if the
expressed opinions were in a similar vein, which I'm assuming they were)
It was also one of the most honest and to the point criticisms of government
policy that I've seen on the BBC. I hope it was read by many, many people.
With regards the comparison with the woman being beaten, I took it to
suggest that it is futile treating an individual for something then returning them
to the same failing system that caused the damage in the first place. The
individual is the symptom not the cause of the problem and it is the root cause
that requires treatment.
I'm very pleased to have found this mailing list and this organisation, it is a
breath of fresh air in a seemingly increasingly desperate world.
Many thanks to Dr Fryer and Community Psychology UK.
Sam
