The Riedl laboratory at the La Jolla, CA campus of the Burnham
Institute for Medical Research seeks a Staff Scientist in structural
biology/crystallography. BIMR is a foremost research institute
focused on revealing the fundamental molecular causes of disease
using unique and collaborative approaches. The Riedl lab, as part of
the Cancer Center, is dedicated to unraveling the molecular basis of
central protein complexes in cell signaling and fostering early
stages of drug compound development using structural biology. The
Staff Scientist position encompasses all computational aspects of
structure solution of cellular signaling complexes using X-ray
crystallography, as well as software and hardware maintenance.
Furthermore it entails drug compound related structure solution and
molecular modeling. The successful candidate has a solid track record
independently performing these tasks. Additionally, excellent
communication and team building skills are paramount due to the
highly interactive nature of the position which includes close
interaction with lab members and collaborators. Competitive salary
commensurate with experience.
Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. in biochemistry or a related field with a specialization in
X-ray crystallography
- Experience with all computational aspects of structure
determination by X-ray crystallography is required
- Strong expertise using and maintaining current X-ray data
processing software, structure solution and refinement packages, and
modeling suites
Interested candidates having the above qualifications should email a
cover letter describing their experience, a CV, and the names of
