Hi all,
This is just a quick note to report that we successfully followed the instructions on rcsg.rice.edu/rcsg/notes/linbugs.html to install OpenBugs v. 2.2 on a RedHat Enterprise Linux (Linux AS release 4) cluster. In the linbugs script we replaced $DIR/temp with $HOME/bugsTemp since in our setup, individual users have no ability to write to the directory in which the script resides (e.g., /usr/local/bin).
Incidentally, I also created some R code to call our OpenBUGS installation from within R (http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/~paciorek/computingTips/R_code_calling_BUGS_in.html ). The code makes use of some code modified from the BRugs package and Tarn Duong's rlinbugs.read function. At some point, I might find some time to turn this into an actual R package.
Also, I just wanted to add a note of encouragement to the developers that it would be great if any new versions of OpenBUGS were able to run in Linux, enabling use on high-performance clusters without having to deal with Wine or having to use the old version of OpenBUGS.
