To the extent that Neo-Pagan trads have special skill sets, I gotta say
that the SF Bay Area Reclaiming folks know how to put on large public
rituals that develop and sustain some sort of magical presence and/or
deliver some sort of magical experience to the participants in aggregate.
SF Reclaiming Samhain attracts more than a thousand participants.
At this scale of event, I think that it becomes difficult to sort out the
different elements of event production using terms like "theatrical."
It is really event production and management.
Almost no other trad or group that I know of does these large open
rituals that take up a time span like a movie, theater performance,
sports game, or lecture. That is, hours rather than days, like a Pagan
festival.
