Science Communication Conference
22 & 23 June 2009
Call for Proposals
The Science Communication Conference 2009, organised by the BA in partnership with the Wellcome Trust, will take place in central London on 22 & 23 June. We are now inviting you to propose a session.
The Conference addresses the key issues facing science communicators in the UK and each year brings together people who are involved in public engagement - a diverse group of people from a broad range of backgrounds. It is a fantastic opportunity to network, share ideas and good practice.
In 2009, alongside sessions covering the whole range of activities within public engagement, the Conference will have a central focus - ‘Behaviour and Choice’ exploring the role that science communicators should or could play as influencers of behavioural change.
Conference sessions are generally 1 to 1.5 hours long. We welcome proposals that use a variety of formats and are particularly interested in showcasing activities within the sessions.
If you are interested in submitting a session idea please visit:
www.the-ba.net/ScienceCommunicationConference for more information. Here you can view programmes and reports from previous Conferences.
Please note that the deadline for submissions is Friday 21 November 2008.
If you would like to discuss your idea prior to submission then please contact Alice Taylor-Gee on 020 7019 4940 or email [log in to unmask]
If you would like to receive updates about the Conference then please sign up to our e-lert list by emailing [log in to unmask] with ‘SCC e-lert’ in the subject line.
Are you interested in organising events and activities that engage the public with science and engineering? The BA Branches are currently seeking volunteers to help communicate science and engineering throughout the UK. Getting involved is a great way to gain experience or to utilise skills you may already have, to the benefit of your local community. For more information go to www.the-ba.net/regions.
