Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in Transportation Engineering
Applications are invited for appointment as Associate Professor/Assistant
Professor in Transportation Engineering in the Department of Civil Engineering,
from July 1, 2009 or as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis,
with consideration for tenure after satisfactory completion of a second three-
year fixed-term contract.
The Department of Civil Engineering is one of the five engineering departments
in the Faculty of Engineering. The Department has enjoyed a good reputation
as a leading world-class institution for research and teaching in civil
engineering, and nurtured high-calibre leaders for the community as well as
the civil engineering profession. The Department is active in research in water
and environmental engineering, structural engineering, geotechnical
engineering, construction management and transportation engineering.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering or a related field,
with practical experience in the industry and a strong background in teaching
and research. The appointee will be expected to teach undergraduate and
postgraduate courses and be strongly committed to research. He/She will
also be expected to interact closely with other members in the Department.
The applicants should have a strong background in the area of transportation
engineering.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience
will be offered. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and
University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of
basic salary, as well as leave, and medical/dental benefits. Housing benefits
