Yes. I have heard that version too. My great grandmother was very clear though that it was 'sevish'. She may have been perpetuating a mispronunciation but, then again, maybe not. I still can't work out where it came from. There is an uzbek word, 'sevish' that is to do with love but I can't see how that is connected to wheat...
