Hi
I am in the process of dealing with a group of tree surgeons and hearing
preservation! (muffs are attached to helmet)helmets have straps around the
ears to hold the helmet on and some a plastic joint holding two straps
together so the ear muffs do not seal well and one bloke wears specs!
The guy up the tree (has to be the specs wearer for added difficulty!!!) needs
to hear instruction from below, he has a chain saw on tick over (no the chain
doesnt turn...so it is safe) but the manufacturer of the saw states 89db so
needs to have his ear muffs on when the saw is running..allegedly...given that
the instruction from below may be a simple shout....does anyone know if the
customised hearing protection is any use for hearing instruction?
plugs are no good due to mucky hands and being up a tree... dropped plug
makes rude words and pockets are full of tree dust!
i have suggested that he contacts a manufacturer of customised plugs but
does anyone know if these allow speech/shouts through?to save the in out
thing?
