Subject: Colloquium in Music, Wednesday 12 November: Applications of
music in brain injury rehabilitation: humane therapy or hard science?
Dear Colleagues and Students,
It is again my pleasure to invite you to our departmental colloquium on Wednesday, 12 November 2008, in the St Davids Room, Strand Campus at 4.45pm.
Wendy Magee, International Fellow in Music Therapy at the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability, will speak on: Applications of music in brain injury rehabilitation: humane therapy or hard science?
Dr Magee writes about her paper:
"Music therapy can improve the quality of life for people living with neurological illness and acquired brain disorders. This presentation will offer clinical examples demonstrating the effects of music on behaviour, cognition and communicative functioning in adults with acquired brain injuries. Reference to the emerging evidence from neuroscience will contextualise music therapy's place in the medical context."
I hope you can join us.
Best wishes
