As an alternative it might be worth thinking about Redcliffe Caves in
Bristol. NOT a metal mine but a sandstone underground quarry. The reason
for mentioning it is that I know it has been used for numerous filmings
ranging from things like smuggler caves to dungeons can't say off the top of
my head which but Doctor who and Harry Potter come to mind. Couyld be made
to look like a metal mine relatively easily with the right choice of spot,
vehicular access is straight forward and as it has been done before issues
like health & safety etc have all been previously considered.
Just a thought

David

Thanks very much to everyone who posted.
The film crew now tell me that they don't want an ironstone mine but a
generic metal mine, which makes my life a whole lot easier, Snailbeach on
Tamar here we come.
