Dear all - thanks for responses. Could I make it clear that the lunchtime meeting and a panel are not mutually exclusive? All networks have a timetabled lunchtime slot at the conference for a meeting, and I think we should take this opportunity (as we did rather hastily at Cardiff last year).
The panel proposal is quite separate. One or two people have expressed interest. I'll wait for a couple of days and see who else gets back to us, and perhaps we can then draft a provisional line-up.
best
Maire

Dear Maire,
In my view, we should go for a parallel session and not a Network lunchtime meeeting. I'd be happy to put together a paper based on my response for the CPBF to Ofcom's discussion paper on citzens and consumers. However, I'm also giving a paper to the panel on the media and the coal dispute, so if you'd like me to do this we'd need to avoid a timetable clash. But as I'm already giving a paper, I'd be more than happy not to do this if you get sufficient offers from other people.
All the best, Julian.

Dear colleagues - I am forwarding an email from Christine Geraghty about the possibility of putting together a policy panel at the Meccsa conference. It is self-explanatory I hope.
In case the attachment doesn't come through, I'm pasting it into the body of the message below.
It's obviously very short notice, but perhaps it might be possible to put together a panel based on the very full and considered responses that various individuals have made to the Ofcom PSB review? Would anybody be prepared to take part in this?
Here is Christine's message:

Dear Maire
Sorry you didn't make the meeting but it looks like you are having a good research leave.
A couple of things in relation to the conference and the policy network. We did try twice to get a DCMS speaker and I had some discussion with Syliva about it but to no avail. However, I think individuals have submitted papers in the policy area and it would be possible for the Policy Network to submit a panel even at this stage. The conference timetable allows for Network meetings at 1pm on the Friday and you will need to decide whether you want to make use of that time. Alternatively (and the Women's Network are doing this) you may want to put together a panel which can be allocated a time elsewhere on the timetable in parallel with the other panels. If you want further information about this then do contact me. Once the Network has decided what you want to do, Mark Goodhall needs to know.
Best wishes
Christine
