All,

There is no 'list'. People should present to an emergency department
WHENEVER they feel it is necessary. If they are not sure what they should
do, and feel the problem may be non-urgent they can call NHS Direct first.
If they are sure the problem is not urgent, they should contact their GP.

Kind Regards

I know from my experience of going to A&E with my son last week (at the
Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham) that there is a “list” of
conditions/accidents that warrant a visit to the department (e.g. head
injuries, heavy bleeding, loss of consciousness, difficulties breathing,
suspected fractures etc.) but what the evidence behind this is I don’t
know.

Hi All,

I have been asked if there is a list of conditions/accidents that list what
you should and shouldn’t go to A & E for. Does anyone know if this exists?
