Dear all,
Fancy working at CERN in Switzerland for a couple of years?
A new position is available for a SOAP fellow to be based in the Library
group at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland. The position offers very good pay
and conditions and the opportunity to work on a cutting-edge project
looking at possibilities for open access publishing in all disciplines.
Indicated salary is in the range of CHF 75'000 - 90'000 per year and you
are generally exempt from paying tax on this (so it's a very good
salary!).
The following conditions apply for eligibility:
You are a citizen of one of the CERN Member states (Austria, Belgium,
Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece,
Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain,
Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom).
You hold a MSc or higher diploma and you have less than 10 years
professional experience after the MSc.
You have a sound understanding of the mechanisms and economics of
scientific publishing.
You are familiar with Open Access in general and business models for
Open Access Publishing in particular.
Experience in the management of small projects and/or being conversant
with the administration of FP7 projects is an advantage.
Experience with the analysis of large data samples collected by user
surveys is an asset.

Fellowship:

Applications must reach CERN by 8th December.
If you're interested but worried about what's involved in moving to
Switzerland, you can get in touch with me for more information. I moved
here from Leeds University Library in 2003.
Good luck for anyone interested in applying!
Joanne
