Hello,
I have a query regarding the provision of electronic books by publishers
to visually impaired students. A lecturer has requested electronic
versions of key texts from a publisher for a visually impaired student.
The publisher would like some guarantee that the book is only going to
be used by the student and is asking for an agreement to be signed.
In your institution, does the library act as an intermediary between the
student and the publisher in this situation? Do any of you have a
process in place to ensure access is restricted to the student entitled
to access the book (password protected access)? or is it usual for the
students/lecturers/disability officer to liaise directly with the
publishers ?
Thank you,
Nathalie
