There are several laptops that offer normal sized keyboards but they tend to
have 17 inch screens so are rather large. The other alternative is a 15
inch screen with high visibility keyboard stickers
http://www.keytools.co.uk/product.php?productid=16298 sadly they do not
stay on forever.
I have a touch screen tablet and have found that with too much pressure on
the lid or lack of care the screens can be damaged. However, it does mean
you can use handwriting if that is an option and an onscreen keyboard with
the stylus or finger tip. My Toshiba Portege 700 has taken a bashing and
seems to survive with one mark on the screen. The keys are the same
measurement across as the Dell desktop keyboard I use but the travel is not
as deep and nor is the spacing. But that is usually the case with laptops.
If the worst comes to the worst you may have to try a separate keyboard
attached to the laptop. Have one available in both places and it often helps
to have a separate mouse as well.
Here is a comparison of laptop keyboards

Subject: Accessible Laptops
Dear All
I am working with an individual with learning disabilities who wants to
purchase a laptop to give him the flexibility to use it in his home and
day service settings. Whilst he is able to interface with a PC, he finds
the laptop keyboard difficult to use owing to visual impairment and
having very large hands. Is anyone aware of a simplified laptop or
possibly an on screen keyboard with large icons (that could be
customised with the keys that he needs) that he might be able to
interface with using a touch screen / tablet?
I would be really grateful if you could help me out with any information
or ideas that you might have.
Many Thanks
Ann Collins
