Statistician - UCL Epidemiology & Public Health
Applications are sought for an experienced statistician to provide expert advice and support to staff within the Health Behaviour Research Centre. The successful candidate will: provide consultation to researchers during all stages of the research process from study design to statistical analysis have substantial experience of providing statistical support in an academic setting be able to demonstrate their contribution to national or international level research through peer-reviewed publications have the ability to work independently, and will take a lead in statistical aspects of research project design, analysis and publication. Familiarity with latent variable, hierarchical, and longitudinal models is desirable.
The ideal candidate will also: be an accomplished communicator, with the ability to convey complex statistical ideas with ease from a number of platforms contribute regularly to the overall academic success of the department by attending and delivering seminars, offering support and training to colleagues, reviewing articles for journals and assisting with grant proposals will show evidence of, or potential for, development of additional professional or academic roles within the centre and the wider academic community, e.g. leading research teams, service on peer review committees.
The Health Behaviour Research Centre is a leading health psychology research group with strengths in several areas including uptake of cancer screening, public understanding of cancer, food preferences, childhood obesity, epidemiology and treatment of smoking. It is situated in the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health, linking closely with the Psychobiology group and collaborating with some of the large epidemiological cohorts (the Whitehall Study, the Health Survey for England). The Centre also has close links with other CR-UK laboratories.
Salary: UCL Grade 8, Senior Research Associate (£39,313 - £46,403 pa inclusive) or Grade 9, Principal Research Associate (£50,447 - £54,867 pa inclusive).
If appointed at Grade 9 the post-holder will be expected to make an independent contribution to the HBRC's research activities secure grant funding and undertake research and staff management.
