Senior Research Assistant - Kadoorie Biobank (CTSU08/676)
£25,622-£31,358 p.a.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, well-organised person with a PhD in epidemiology to work on one of the world's biggest prospective epidemiological studies, the Kadoorie Biobank Study. The appointee will be based in the CTSU (Oxford), which is one of the world's leading centres for epidemiological research into the causes, prevention and treatment of chronic diseases. The CTSU is carrying out the Kadoorie Biobank Study in collaboration with the China National Center for Disease Control. The study involves 515,000 adults recruited during 2004-8 in 10 regions of China, with detailed assessment of participants, collection and storage of blood samples, and long-term follow-up of health status for many years. It is a unique resource for investigating the environmental and genetic determinants of chronic disease in China and the results generated will improve understanding of disease aetiology.
The appointee must have good writing, communication, analytical and computational skills. The main tasks will involve developing detailed procedures and tools for long-term follow up for mortality and morbidity, piloting linkage with health-related records available in China, reviewing literature and assisting with detailed analyses, interpretation and enrichment of survey data.
The position is subject to pre-employment screening. We are offering a competitive remuneration package for the ideal candidate, including generous holiday entitlement.
Applications for this role must be made online at: http://jobs.mrc.ac.uk. Applicants who do not have internet access or experience difficulties should call 01793 301156, quoting CTSU08/676.
