Michael
My laboratory runs a lutein assay (HPLC) as one component of a carotenoid profile for research purposes, and we have reference intervals based on approximately 6000 samples from elderly subjects in several European countries (though not Germany). We would be happy to run a test if you cannot find anywhere else, but I am not aware of any good clinical indication for measuring lutein specifically.
Best wishes

A doctor requests a lutein assay as the patient insists on it (and is ready
to pay ...).
The trouble is twofold:
1. Is this science or "pseudo???" ?
2. Is there a lab running the assay ?
Thank you very much for your input.
Best regards,
Mike
