For any handmade book-crazed folk, here's a follow-up to my previous post
abouy having ordered _How to Make Books_ from amazon.com.
I just received it and have made 4 little 'instant' books with the easiest,
the first, design. Just several foldings of any paper, a 2" tear or cut,
then easy refold---et VOILA! a book! It's not going to be perfect-looking,
bcuz of paper's nature, thickness hugely increasing with each sheet.
It is [they are] a tad ratty-looking, but got better as my understandings
and skills got better. Motivation's giving them to my soon 5-year old
grandboys [twins] for their birthday. Collaged [magazine action photos of
native Hawaiians, representing Barack Obama's and the twins' heritage] the 8
tiny pages in the first book. Numbered each page so they'll not be fumbling
with the thick bits to find additional pages. The 3 other books are just
coloured construction paper, left blank except for page numbers, so that
they can draw, write, or collage in them, themselves.
Next project's to show them how to make a box----for which I'll need some
practice and my sister's 'recipe'. <g>
