We are very pleased to announce that we have launched two new sites on mental health experiences in black and minority ethnic experiences at www.healthtalkonline.org
http://www.healthtalkonline.org/mental_health/minorityethnicmentalhealthcarers
http://www.healthtalkonline.org/mental_health/minorityethnicmentalhealthserviceusers
The two sites are based on qualitative research with 64 mental health service users and carers from BME communities conducted by the University of Westminster and the University of Oxford. Together, the sites:
1. Give a voice to groups who are often not heard
2. Provide 24 hour emotional and practical support
3. Can be used as a teaching and training resource
On both sites you will find video, audio and written clips from participants from a variety of ethnic backgrounds talking about their experiences, as well as links to over 200 organisations, support groups and helplines.
Please feel free to circulate this email and the attached information amongst your colleagues, friends and relatives, in newsletters and on noticeboards. The impact of medication - teaching resource
http://www.ceimh.bham.ac.uk/tv/PS3MedicationIntro.shtml
This educational resource aims to develop students' understanding of the
impact of prescribed medication on the lives of mental health service users,
and improve their medication management skills. This project of the Centre of
Excellence in Interdisciplinary Mental Health (University of Birmingham) has
developed and produced 'storyboards' which comprise short sound recordings
of service users' stories, accompanied by photographs and images.
