22-27 March 2009
Co-Organized by Ingrid Nelson (Oregon) and Maria Fannin (Bristol), on
behalf of the Geographic Perspectives on Women Specialty Group (GPOW) of

The Geographic Perspectives on Women Specialty Group is organising a series

on the theme of Gender, Feminism and Geography. We welcome empirically- and

Gender and Feminism in Geography, and especially invite submissions in the
following areas:
* gender, labour and class (new economic geographies of gender, factory
work, welfare politics, work/life balance)
* corporeality and gender (embodiment, phenomenology, health
technologies)
* performing gender in the field/laboratory (for example, issues of
sexuality, motherhood, and race in research and academic environments
across both physical and human geography)
* transnational feminism and the politics of comparative research on gender
(theorizing gender and sex as categories of geographical research,
post-colonial perspectives on gender and feminist geographies)
Please send proposed titles and abstracts of up to 250 words to Ingrid
Nelson ([log in to unmask]) or Maria Fannin ([log in to unmask]) by
